Jazz Band
The Green Valley High School Jazz Ensemble has a rich tradition and is a 2019 & 2020 Downbeat Award Winner and was also invited to perform at the prestigious Monterey Next Generations Jazz Festival. The Jazz Bands have performed twice at the Jazz Education Networks annual international conference on the JENerations festival stage. The Jazz Bands and Jazz Combo are active in performing throughout our community and are some of the most sought-after performance groups in our Las Vegas community.
Concert Bands
The Green Valley Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the top concert band in the program, has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City twice, at the International Band Conference (The Midwest Clinic) in Chicago—the first band from Nevada to ever receive this invitation, the Lincoln Center in New York, and Symphony Hall in Chicago. This group has performed internationally in Rome, Edinburgh, London, Paris, Shanghai, Madrid, Vancouver, and Ireland. This ensemble receives consistent superior ratings at festivals, and the band students distinguish themselves through their individual efforts resulting in great representation in the District Honor Bands and the Nevada All-State Ensembles.
Colorguard
The Green Valley High School Colorguard is composed of non-musicians and musicians and performs both with the Marching Band and on their own during the Winterguard season. They help bring the Marching Band shows to life visually! It is one of the most active performing ensembles on campus and is open to anyone - no experience necessary! The group has traveled with the Marching Band all over the world and maintains a high level of performance excellence!
Marching Band
The GVHS Marching Band has performed in the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (the 1st band in CCSD to do so), the Orlando Thanksgiving Parade, the London New Year’s Day Parade, and parades in Paris, Rome, China, Spain, and the Hollywood Christmas Parade. The Green Valley High School Marching Band was honored to be selected to march in the 1993 President Bill Clinton Inaugural Parade and 2009 President Barack Obama Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC. The Marching Band competes in shows throughout the Southwest and has also performed at college football bowl games.
